Bills Hope Meredith Can Stop The Bleeding

  • Posted on October 15, 2009 at 8:53 pm

When the Buffalo Bills embarked on their 2009 campaign some six weeks ago, they did so with Brad Butler starting at right tackle. Butler had previously started 29 games in the NFL, but all came at right guard. Concern lingered about his lack of experience.
About a month later, at least in the eyes of the Bills organization, Butler’s experience would rival Brett Favre.

There will be yet another switcheroo in the Bills offensive line this week when they travel to East Rutherford to take on the New York Jets. It’ll be the fourth different line combination the Bills have started just six games into the season. This time, with Jonathan Scott injured and Kirk Chambers completely ineffective, Jamon Meredith will get his first NFL start at right tackle. Coincidentally, his first snap Sunday will also be the first of his career.

Reason #2 to draft Colt McCoy

  • Posted on October 15, 2009 at 10:53 am

The obvious number one reason of course, is that Trent Edwards has flat-out stunk up the field on Sundays. But another reason to root for the Bills to draft University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy may be more than just his strong arm or unsavory pocket poise.

Who wouldn’t want to see CBS cut away to shots of girlfriend Rachel Glandorf on Sundays following each McCoy touchdown pass?

We got the feeling most guys— and some women would go out of their way make sure the “City of Good Neighbors” made the future (perhaps) Mrs. Colt McCoy feel quite welcome.

For the record, Glandorf is more than just a pretty face.  She’s also majoring in atheltic training at Baylor University and a journalist for CBS affiliate KEYE42-TV in Austin, Texas.

The Losman Revolution Hits a Speed Bump

UFL Debut Redwoods Locomotives FootballThe fairy tale start to J.P. Losman’s UFL season took a turn last night, one that Buffalo Bills fans are all too familiar with.

Losman led his 1-0 Las Vegas Locos into a showdown with the 1-0 Florida Tuskers. Since the UFL consists of only four teams (New York and California also have a franchise) this was already the lone battle of the unbeaten.

Brooks Bollinger is the former Jets, Minnesota, Dallas castoff quarterback of Florida. On Wednesday night he clearly outperformed the 2004 former Bills first round draft pick as Florida romped Vegas, 29-15.

The UB women’s volleyball team will be hosting their “Dig Pink” event on Friday, October 16 at 7:00pm in Alumni Arena. The main focus is to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Proceeds this year will go to the Side-Out Foundation with 25% going to Mary’s Wig Room in Buffalo, NY.

This cause hits home for many of the members of the women’s volleyball team. Mothers, sisters, aunts, and close family friends have all been affected by this disease and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the University at Buffalo is doing its part to help out.

“We are honored to be taking part in this great cause,” said head coach Todd Kress. “This is a disease that doesn’t discriminate and everyone has been affected one way or another. We urge all our fans to come on out on Friday night and where pink for this cause.”
