Select Fans Making Bad Bills Season Worse

Posted on October 13, 2009 by Patrick Moran

The Buffalo Bills have been a disaster on the field.  At 1-4, including three straight losses they’re squarely headed towards a tenth straight season without making the playoffs.  The defense is a M.A.S.H. unit, the offensive line is in shambles and their quarterback has fans clamoring for the return of J.P. Losman (yes, it’s that bad).

Even Terrell Owens is just “going with the plays that are called”.   It’s gotten so bad their head coach has an approval rating that makes former President Bush feel like J.F.K.

Sadly, the laughingstock 2009 campaign hasn’t been limited to on-field debacles.  A trio of incidents by idiot fans have put a bigger damper on the season than any Trent Edwards interception could ever accomplish.

First there was the Leodis McKelvin incident, where a pair of teenagers vandalized his front lawn with profanity following the opening night loss to New England  where he coughed up the ball late in the fourth quarter.

The following week saw a burglar break into Donte Whitner’s home and allegedly steal more than $400K worth of personal property from his house—while he was playing the Buccaneers and having the best game of his career.

Things reached a low point over this past weekend.  On Sunday there was a carving done at a tailgate party for Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas.  “Carving for a Cause” is an initative started after the horrible October storm three years ago.   The carvings are made from wood that fell off trees during the storm. The carving was over eight feet long and topped 1,000 pounds.

By Monday morning the Thomas carving was gone.  Somehow a group of individuals managed to load it into a truck and steal it.  Undoubtedly it’s sitting in some pathetic fan’s basement right now.

If anyone has information regarding the stolen carving, you can call the Orchard Park police at 662-6444.   97 Rock, who sponsored the event, is offering a reward for its return.

And the humiliation that is 2009 continues.

It’s going to take a big shakeup and some wins to revive fan confidence in the franchise….but the vandalism and theft is nuts.

Is it just me, or does this chunk of wood look nothing like Thurman Thomas?
