Dominic Moore Finally Signs.. With Florida

Posted on October 5, 2009 by Patrick Moran
It took a lot longer than expected, but former Sabre Dominic Moore has finally found a home. Moore signed a one-year, $1.1-million deal with the Florida Panthers. According to the Florida Sun Sentinel the deal will be announced Monday.

“He’s really excited about it,” said Moore’s agent, Larry Kelly to the Florida newspaper. “He thinks it’s a huge opportunity to play for [Coach] Peter DeBoer. DeBoer is one of the brighter guys in the game. It’s a perfect fit for Dom.”

Moore was acquired by the Sabres from Toronto at last year’s trade deadline. While with the Maple Leafs Moore had 12 goals and 29 assists in 63 games, but did little offensively while in Buffalo. Moore managed just one goal and three assists in 18 games with the Sabres.

Moore broke his wrist just three games into his tenure with Buffalo, according to his agent.

“He played with it the whole balance of the season and then was in a cast for six weeks after the season. It was just an unfortunate circumstance.” said Kelly.

I want to win now. Every team in the league should want to win now. In my opinion it’s a copout for any team to say, 'We’ve got a four-year program.' Well, how convenient. Your contract is four years, or whatever. To me, I don’t see how that's justified.
