Wilson’s Extra Motivation For Good Bills’ Showing Sunday

Posted on October 7, 2009 by Patrick Moran
ralph bustHe may be too stubborn to confess or too old to care, but when the Bills take on the Browns Sunday at Ralph Wilson stadium, nobody in attendance wants to see a better first half of football (from the Bills’ perspective) than the club’s owner himself.

According the official Pro Football Hall of Fame website, Wilson is scheduled to be honored at halftime. Pro Football Hall of Fame President/Executive Director Steve Perry will be on hand to present Wilson with his Hall of Fame ring.  Wilson was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame this past August

Deserved or not, it’s highly probable the fans are going to give Wilson a less than enthusiastic welcome, which will only be intensified if the team lays an egg during the opening 30 minutes as it’s done the past few weeks.

Wilson is one of only 18 contributors among the Hall’s 253 members. But Buffalo fans are concerning themselves much these days than Wilson’s history. They’re far too consumed with anger over his refusal to relieve embattled head coach Dick Jauron of his duties.

So if Wilson wants to save himself the public embarrassment and keep the boos he’ll receive to just a smattering, he may want to give his current head coach a little extra motivation to have the team prepared to perform well.

By extra motivation we mean play better football, or don’t bother coming back next week.

If Bills fans don’t give him a warm welcome they are idiots. I am at the game as a fan. I’ll let you know.

I think the fans will be respectful of Ralph.

I want to win now. Every team in the league should want to win now. In my opinion it’s a copout for any team to say, 'We’ve got a four-year program.' Well, how convenient. Your contract is four years, or whatever. To me, I don’t see how that's justified.
