Flynn starts to regain that winning feeling

Jonny Flynn Buffalo Sports DailyFormer Western New York high school basketball legend Jonny Flynn has already experienced his fair share of lows in his rookie NBA season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.  Not used to all the losing at Syracuse University and especially high school at Niagara Falls, Flynn saw his team come out on the losing end of 38 of 47 times with Minnesota before last week.  Finally, Flynn is getting to accustomed to something new in the NBA.

Out of nowhere his Timberwolves are on a four-game winning streak.  This past Friday they defeated Dallas and came back the next night with a win against Memphis. At 13-38 the Wolves aren’t going anywhere this season or anytime soon, but getting the feel of sleeping on victories is a positive feeling.

“We’re getting better every game,” Flynn said.  “We’ve struggled all year and we still have our struggles but we’re starting to put some things together.  I’m trying to get better every game and I think as a team we’re all doing the same. It’s a process but we’re getting better each night.”

The ups and downs of NBA life and competition continue to weigh on Flynn.  Friday night against Dallas Flynn was the star, scoring a team-high 19 points including a trio of three pointers.  But the next night he struggled personally, collecting just six points in 20 minutes in the win over Memphis.

The positive in the Memphis game is Flynn is rapidly showing signs of maturity.  Minnesota guard Ramon Sessions had the hot hand that night, and reportedly Flynn told head coach Kurt Rambis he should leave Sessions in longer because he was playing well.

“It shows a lot of growth and maturity.” Rambis said of Flynn to reporters after the game.

Flynn and his teammates will try to have their streak reach five with a game against Philadelphia on Tuesday.
