NFP Report: Bills looking to trade up for Tebow

  • Posted on April 22, 2010 at 2:26 pm

Tim TebowOne of the most respected draft analysts in the business, West Bunting of the National Football Post is reporting that the Buffalo Bills are trying to trade back into the late first round, and the target would be University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.

According to a tweet by Bunting, a Buffalo trade could happen with the New York Jets, who hold the 29th pick.

There’s been lots of talk in circles that Buddy Nix has Tebow rated higher than Jimmy Clausen on the Buffalo Bills draft board.  It’s also no longer expected that Tebow would be available to the Bills with the 41st pick overall in the second round.

Personally, I buy into what Bunting is saying.  I also think besides the Jets, San Diego at 28 or Minnesota at 30 could be targets.

For the record, Bunting now has Buffalo taking Tebow in a trade with the Jets in his final mock draft.  He has the team taking offensive tackle Anthony Davis with the ninth overall pick (and I hope he’s wrong there).

Famed draft mocker Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News has the Bills selecting defensive tackle Dan Williams.

This is shaping up to be an exciting first round of the draft, which is in prime time tonight for the first time ever.

**UPDATE** Tim Tebow’s agent says he already knows where Tebow is going.

Source: Roosevelt will get offered by Bills if undrafted

  • Posted on April 22, 2010 at 2:01 pm

Naaman RooseveltI’m told by a source close to Naaman Roosevelt that the University of Buffalo wide receiver will be offered a contract by the Buffalo Bills should he go unselected in the NFL draft, which begins tonight.

The same source tells me at least two other teams have been in contact with his agent, Dave Butz of Sportstars, Inc regarding his post draft availability.

Despite being one of the most productive receivers in college football over the past two years, Roosevelt was not invited to participate at the NFL combine.  He did work out at the UB pro day in front of scouts for six teams, including the Bills.

Roosevelt did take part in Senior Bowl week and reviews were mixed.  Critics panned that he had a penchant for dropping too many passes, something people who’ve watched UB football over the past few years know to be ridiculous.

Myers named Calder Trophy Finalist

  • Posted on April 22, 2010 at 12:21 pm

Tyler Myers Calder TrophyCenter Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche, goaltender Jimmy Howard of the Detroit Red Wings and defenseman Tyler Myers of the Buffalo Sabres are the three finalists for the 2009-10 Calder Trophy, awarded “to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition,” the National Hockey League announced today.

Members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association submitted ballots for the Calder Trophy at the conclusion of the regular season, with the top three vote-getters designated as finalists. The winner will be announced Wednesday, June 23, during the 2010 NHL Awards that will be broadcast live from the Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Hotel Las Vegas on VERSUS in the United States and on CBC in Canada.

Following are the finalists for the Calder Trophy, in alphabetical order:

11th Hour: Hoping Nix Remembers 2001

NFL DRAFT LOGOAfter what seems like an eternity of speculation, the time for the NFL draft has finally arrived.  For football die hards or fans of the movie “Step Brothers”, it’s bigger than the (expletive) Catalina Wine Mixer!

I won’t make this overly long and drawn out; Lord knows you’ll get your fill of draft day stuff from outlets all over the web. Six days ago I compiled my one (and only) NFL mock draft, and with the ninth pick I had the Buffalo Bills selecting defensive end/linebacker Derrick Morgan.

Upon further review, I’m hopeful my premonition was erroneous.

One man’s thoughts on Big Ben

  • Posted on April 22, 2010 at 1:09 am

Dude, I swear, I’ve awakened too many Christmas morning’s to find out Santa Clause doesn’t exist. What am I talking about? I’m talking about the Bills. First, it was the coaching search that brought us Chan Gailey. Now, it’s Ben Roethlisberger. I woke up today and read that Adam Schefter tweeted that the Steelers were contacting teams with top 10 picks. I thought, “Wait. We have a top 10 pick. We need a franchise quarterback. Big Ben is under 30. We have a great nightlife. Sign me up!”

Of course, Schefter tweeted about 20 minutes later that the Bills said no. Awesome! Look, if you are new to my blog, there are a couple of things you need to know about me and some thoughts about Ben coming here:
