BSD Did You KnowIn 2002 the Houston Texans were awarded a franchise by the NFL.  As a result, each of the team’s in the league were forced to expose a certain amount of players to an expansion draft, giving the Texans a pool of veteran players to choose from.

Did you know that the Bills would lose one player in the 2002 expansion draft?  The Texans selected former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Avion Black in the 16th of 19 rounds.  Black was one of five players the Bills exposed in the draft.  The others were Rob Johnson, John Fina, Ken Irvin and Raion Hill.

A former fourth-round pick by Buffalo out of Tennessee State in 2000, Black caught just one pass for 34 yards during his two-year Bills career.  He’d play the 2002 with Houston, catching 14 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown, but it was his last year in the league.
