College Hockey Preview: Canisius vs. Bentley

CanisiusThe Canisius College hockey team returns to the Buffalo for a two-game series against Atlantic Hockey foe Bentley. The Griffs and the Falcons are set to meet on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:05 p.m.

SOPHOMORES BUILDING ON ROOKIE CAMPAIGNS
• With over half of the team’s offensive production lost from last season, the Griffs needed the sophomore class to take the next step and build on their strong rookie seasons.
• Through four games, the class has responded.
• The eight Canisius sophomores currently account for 53 percent of the team’s points (10-19), 43 percent of its goals (3-7) and 58 percent of its assists (7-12).

Bona Games to be Streamed for Free This Season

Bona LogoThe St. Bonaventure University Athletics Department will stream all of its home men’s and women’s basketball games free of charge for the 2011-12 basketball season, director of athletics Steve Watson announced on Thursday.

Fans will now be able to access all Bona home games, beginning with the men’s exhibition against Mansfield on Friday, live over the Internet through the CBS All-Access player on GoBonnies.com. No usernames, passwords or account will be required.

The broadcasts will be produced by SBU-TV under the direction of Paul Wieland, associate professor of journalism and mass communication, and technical director Joe Paciorkowski.  Undergraduate students from the Russell J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication will continue to provide most of the broadcast crew.  On the majority of the men’s games, SBU graduate Jeremy Noeson ‘05 will call the play-by-play and John Watson Jr., associate professor in the School of Business, will provide color commentary.
