Bandits: Corbeil named to NLL All-Rookie Team

Posted on May 13, 2010 by Tim Bulmber/Buffalo Bandits

buffalo bandits logoThe National Lacrosse League today announced Buffalo Bandits defenseman Chris Corbeil has been named to the 2010 NLL All-Rookie Team.

Corbeil (6’3”, London, ON), was selected in the second-round (15th overall) and played in 12 regular season games this season, and one playoff contest. He posted nine points (3+6) in his debut season with Buffalo. The left-handed defenseman was one of only four NLL rookies to register a short-handed goal.

“I am extremely honored,” said an elated Corbeil. The ultra-competitive defenseman collected 81 loose balls this season, which was good for 3rd most among all rookies.

Despite missing four games late in the year with a knee injury suffered March 6 against Orlando, Corbeil returned to action on April 10 against Toronto to post a multi-point game (1+1) while grabbing 10 loose balls. His effort was acknowledged with NLL Rookie of the Week honors for Week 14 of the regular season.

“Chris Corbeil caught our attention at the Canadian Junior Championships (Minto Cup) last summer. Our desire to replace a left-handed defensive player gave Chris an immediate opportunity to crack the line-up. Chris’ size, speed and athleticism allowed him to prove to our coaching staff that he is more than capable of playing every week,” remarked Associate General Manager Derek Graham.

The league awards are determined by a vote of the league executives, general managers and head coaches.
