In a move that feels like it came several weeks late the Buffalo Bills have released cornerback Justin Rogers. The team also announced the addition of cornerback Mario Butler to the practice squad and the release of cornerback Johnny Adams from the practice squad.
With Rogers’ release and no announcement of an addition the Bills active roster currently stands at 52.
A seventh-round pick in 2011 who made the Bills roster, Rogers struggled heavily in extensive action at the beginning of this season with cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Ron Brooks. Rogers was torched early and often, particularly in a 27-20 loss to the New York Jets in Week three.
With Gilmore and Brooks returning , Rogers was inactive for the past six Bills game. The only surprise with this move is that it didn’t happen sooner.
Rogers fishes his Bills career with three interceptions in 34 games.
Butler was an undrafted free agent in 2011 who signed with Dallas and has spent time on both the Cowboys and Denver Broncos practice squad. He played his college ball at Georgia Tech.
