St. Bonaventure associate athletic director Steve Campbell announced the hiring of Brett Mucheck as the head men’s golf coach on Friday.
“We are very pleased to have Brett join our staff as his experiences in the golf profession will serve the program and the student-athletes exceptionally well,” said Campbell. “Coach Mucheck is an outstanding motivator and his experience will challenge our current student-athletes to reach greater heights. Brett’s infectious demeanor and excellent communication skills will have an impact on his ability to recruit players who can be successful at St. Bonaventure both academically and athletically.”
A St. Bonaventure graduate, Mucheck has spent the last two years as the general manager of the Lakewood Golf Center. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the center as well as managing the driving range and golf merchandise sales. His time at Lakewood has given him insight into golf operations and performance coaching.
Mucheck also brings a new outlook to the program as he has been a motivational speaker and life coach for four years. He presented at area high schools on topics ranging from fixing focus to staying motivated to succeed.
The Bonnies welcome back five players from the 2009-10 squad and welcome two local talents, Scott Brady (Olean, N.Y./Olean) and Chris Mackey (Bradford, Pa./Bradford). St. Bonaventure opens its season on Sept. 5 at the Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate at the Turning Stone Golf Course in Verona, N.Y.
