Dallas Miller named Bona Sports Information Director

Dallas MillerDallas Miller has been named Sports Information Director at St. Bonaventure University, Director of Athletics Steve Watson announced on Monday.

Miller, who begins his position today, will be responsible for media and public relations for St. Bonaventure’s 14 intercollegiate sports and the www.gobonnies.com website.

Miller comes to St. Bonaventure from Army, where he spent the past year as an athletic communications assistant.  At West Point, Miller handled public and media relations for Army’s sprint football, cross country, track & field and men’s tennis teams.  He also assisted with media relations efforts for several of Army’s other intercollegiate sports, including men’s and women’s basketball, and was partially responsible for maintaining the goArmysports.com website.

“I am honored to begin as the SID at St. Bonaventure,” Miller said. “I’d like to thank the search committee for allowing me to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity, and I look forward to working with the coaches and other administrators to make St. Bonaventure the best it can be.”

Prior to working at Army, Miller spent two years as sports information staff associate at his alma mater, St. John Fisher College in Rochester.  There, he worked on public and media relations for Fisher’s 14 intercollegiate sports.  Miller also earned a master’s degree in Organizational Learning and Human Resource Development from St. John Fisher in the spring of 2009.

In the summer of 2008, Miller was co-director of camp operations for the Buffalo Bills’ training camp, which is held at St. John Fisher.  He was responsible for the work schedules of 60 camp employees as well as interacting with the Bills public relations staff on media staffing and requests.

Miller has also worked in media relations at Syracuse University basketball games, the JP Morgan Chase Scholarship Basketball Tournament in Rochester and with the Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester.

In 2008, Miller was named won of 40 emerging African-American leaders by the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

As an undergraduate, the Ontario, N.Y., native was a member of St. John Fisher’s football team.

Miller replaces Patrick Pierson, who left in June for a similar position at Florida Gulf Coast University.
