Due to a permanent location change and some website reconstruction, we haven’t been able to post anything regarding the Buffalo Bills over the past couple of days. Taking into account the pitiful display of football in our nation’s capital last Friday night that almost seemed like a Playstation game with Dick Jauron controlling the joystick, that’s probably a good thing.
The bad news of course, is that the injuries continue to mount. Fred Jackson is out for at least the remainder of the preseason while his battery mate Marshawn Lynch joins him on the sidelines for at least a couple of weeks. This forces C.J. Spiller into a far more expanded role than expected at this point. Is that a problem? Didn’t fans lose their minds last season at how slowly Aaron Maybin was brought along?
We also now know that Aaron Schobel will formally retire from the NFL about a week after the Bills gave him his release. That’s good news as Bills fans would’ve resented him had he went to New England, a team that was definitely interested in his services.
But to me, the real development taking place comes Thursday when the Bills take on the Indianapolis Colts. Five key starters that missed the opener in Washington should be in the starting lineup, giving head coach Chan Gailey a much better idea of exactly what he has in talent, especially on the offensive line.
Left tackle Demetrius Bell, right tackle Cornell Green and right guard Eric Wood will make their debuts as the offensive line should have all five of its expected starters together. The defense gets a boost with linebackers Paul Posluszny and Chris Kelsay taking the field for the first time in game action.
We will have plenty more on the Bills throughout the day and week, but for now let’s give this team a pass for last week and see how they look as a team with five starters back.

Agreed on Spiller. I don’t want to say I’m glad that Fred and Marshawn are out, but this kid needs to get up to speed and quick. We ain’t got time to let him test the waters now.
Also, dear God, please let Chan Gailey be a better coach in the season than he showed us Friday night.
