Four University at Buffalo football players have been named to Phil Steele’s 2011 Preseason All-MAC Team. Three of the four were selected to the first team, including wide receiver Marcus Rivers, punt returner Terrell Jackson and linebacker Khalil Mack. Defensive end Steven Means was named to the second team.
Rivers is coming off a breakout season for the Bulls. The senior wideout led UB with 50 receptions for 690 yards and five touchdowns last year.
Jackson was a first-team All-MAC selection as a punt returner last season. The Temple, TX native averaged 16.7 yards per return in 2010 – the second best average for a single season in school history.
Mack led the Bulls in both tackles for loss (14.5) and sacks (4.5) as a redshirt-freshman last season. He was named to Phil Steele’s All-Freshman First Team.
Means was the Bulls’ premier pass rusher last season. He led all linemen on the team in tackles for loss (11) and sacks (4.5).
The 2011 campaign kicks off on September 3 at Pittsburgh.
