Frank Turner expected back for Stampede this week

Posted on March 30, 2010 by Patrick Moran

Fans of Frank Turner were disappointed to not see him on the floor Friday night when the Buffalo Stampede played Quebec at the Koessler Athletic Center, the site of many great games by Turner as the point guard at Canisius College.

I spoke with Stampede representative Richard Anselmo.  He told me that Turner missed the game because he had his Canisius senior banquet.

Turner has played in three games with the Stampede since joining the team on March 12.  He’s averaged 19 points and seven assists in those games, all Buffalo losses.

Turner led Canisius during his recently completed senior season with 16.2 points per game, and also led the team in steals (66) and assists (182).

He ended his career at Canisius ranked in the top-10 in 12 different statistical categories at the College, and went down in the school’s record books ranked first in career games played (125), career minutes (4,567) and career assists (616), while ranking fourth in career points (1,769) and third in career steals (193).

Anselmo tells me Turner will be back in the lineup when the Stampede hosts Halifax on April 3.  With two games remaining, the Stampede are hoping to put a stop to their 10-game losing streak that has seen their record fall to 3-15.
