The Jamestown Jets announced today that they will have new ownership upon transfer of the team. Head Coach and Vice President of Operations, Dennis Canfield reached an agreement to buy the organization from long-time associate Barry Soskin, who had been the majority owner of the organization.
A native of Buffalo, NY, Canfield has a long history in the sport of hockey and has been the Head Coach and VP of Operations the past two seasons. “This is a proud day for me and the organization” said Canfield, “I see this as a stepping stone for the future of this organization and hockey in the Jamestown Community”.
The Jets have gained momentum over the past two seasons and hope this agreement will help propel them to the next level. “Our organization sees the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena as a premier facility, primed for Tier II Junior or Professional hockey” Canfield added “Going forward, we will actively pursue any and all options”.
The Jets play their home games at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, one of the premier ice hockey facilities in North America. The 2,100 seat building is home to the Jamestown Jets, CCYHA hockey and numerous special events, including concerts, conventions and other major shows.
Canfield will continue to handle the day-to-day operations of the team as well as his position as Head Coach of the team.
The Jamestown Jets organization is committed to excellence both on and off the ice. The goal is to develop players to become better hockey players on the ice and help them off the ice by participating in community events as well as furthering their education.
Canfield will continue to look for ways to promote the Jamestown Jets organization and the players on the ice. This is a step in the process that could lead to bigger and better things.
The Jamestown Jets are holding their next Evaluation Camp on August 11 at the Amherst Pepsi Center in Buffalo, NY. Additional information can be found at www.jamestownjets.com.
