He may be having a miserable season in terms of team wins and losses, but former Niagara Falls high school star Jonny Flynn will get an opportunity to showcase his skills for the entire world to see.
The NBA’s third leading rookie scorer has been selected to all-star weekend to participate in the annual rookies vs. sophomores challenge. The game takes place in Dallas, Texas as part of All-Star weekend on February 12.
Flynn is averaging 14.1 points, 4.1 assists and 2.4 rebounds through 47 games this season. Flynn was held to 10 points and three assists in 21 minutes last night as his Minnesota Timberwolves lost to the Lebron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers.
Minnesota is last in the Western Conference at just 9-38. Still, head coach Kurt Rambis likes what he sees in Flynn.
“He’s a competitor,” Rambis said. “He wants to win. He has a lot of confidence in himself. He wants to deliver and wants the ball in crucial situations.”
