First, let’s dole out some credit. The Buffalo Stampede have had a miserable season but it didn’t stop them Thursday night from playing interstate rival Rochester tough. But when the final horn sounded moral victories couldn’t take the place of yet another defeat. Rochester outscored Buffalo 41-26 in the final period to erase a four point deficit and send the Stampede to a 120-109 loss.
Buffalo fell to 3-13 on the season while the Razorsharks improved to 12-3.
Rochester defeated Buffalo all four times the teams met this season.
Buffalo led Rochester 83-79 at the end of the third quarter before collapsing defensively in the final period. Still overall it was an improvement over the 152 points they surrendered to Lawton-Fort Sill in their last game.
Frank Turner led Buffalo with 21 points and 11 assists. He’s average 19 points and 7 assists since joining the team three games ago. Cory Herring and Mike Norwood each added 19 points for Buffalo. Norwood also had 10 rebounds.
Melvin Council scored a game-high 25 points for a Rochester team that shot 62.9% from the floor. Derik Hollyfield had 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 points.
The Stampede have now lost eight in a row since winning consecutive games more than six weeks ago. They have four more games remaining, including three at home.
Their home games are all played at Canisius College inside the Koessler Athletic Center.
