It’s less than two weeks into March but things are already looking bad for Niagara Falls native Jonny Flynn and his NBA Minnesota Timberwolves.
Flynn and the Wolves have played four games since the calendar hit March and have dropped them all. With a four game road trip next week and a tough line up late in the month, it doesn’t look like Flynn will be coming off the court a winner much the rest of the month either.
The March losing streak started with a road game against the Dallas Mavericks. Flynn and his teammates held their own against one of the strongest teams in the league but still lost by three. Flynn helped carry the Timberwolves in Dallas, posting 19 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists. With Wolves big man Al Jefferson on the bench due to a suspension, Flynn proved to coach Kurt Rambis he has what it takes to be a team leader.
Flynn’s leadership, however, was not enough to pull out a win three days later when the Timberwolves hosted the Houston Rockets. The Wolves played a sloppy game and lost 112-98 ., Flynn scored 14 points for the night but had three turnovers against four assists.
Loss number three of the skid came once again at the the hands of Dallas of March came at the hand of the Dallas Mavericks, who defeated Minnesota 125-112. Flynn only managed to score 13 points and turned the ball over a mind blowing eight times. Wolves head coach Kurt Rambis pulled Flynn for a long stretch due to his bad on court decision making.
The last loss came this Wednesday against Denver as the Nuggets pulled out a 110-102 win . For the fourth game in a row Flynn, who was known for his scoring at both Niagara Falls High School and Syracuse posted less than impressive numbers. With 11 points, four assists, two turnovers and one rebound it is not surprising that Rambis limited Flynn to 27 minutes of playing time.
Flynn and the Timberwolves will be playing tonight against the San Antonio Spurs at home before heading out for a week long road trip.
