Not long ago, there was legitimate doubt if Leodis McKelvin would even make the Buffalo Bills this year. Suddenly, he’s looking like a good bet to make the Pro Bowl.
McKelvin’s 79-yard punt return for a touchdown last Thursday helped sparked the Bills to a critical 19-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins and it didn’t go unnoticed by the league. McKelvin has been selected as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
McKelvin’s touchdown return was the third longest in the league this season and his second in nine games. McKelvin also scored on a 88-yard return against Kansas City (the longest in the NFL this year) and is leading the league in return average. He’s also seventh in kick returns.
A pending free agent at the end of the season, perhaps McKelvin’s setting himself up for a nice payday—something that seemed highly unlikely back in early September.
