PATRICK MORAN (Publisher)

A passion for local sports and frustration over a lack of quality coverage surrounding what isn’t Bills or Sabres has led Patrick Moran to create Buffalo Sports Daily.

Patrick started his sports writing journey in the mid 1990’s with the creation of the New York Yankees Report. What began as a modestly small newsletter grew into a must-read all over the region for Yankee fans.  He was soon granted credentials to Yankee home games and was featured in a front page Buffalo News article in July of 1994.  Years later he was the managing editor of Buffalo Sports Report and has since written for numerous national publications and websites, including Yahoo Sports and Scout.com.

During that span he’s covered the Bills, Sabres, Bandits and Joe Mesi’s boxing career. He’s interviewed a who’s who in sports during that time, and lists Jerry Rice and Mark Messier as his most exciting conversations. Email: pmoran@buffalosportsdaily.com

JEFF NIXON (Columnist, Radio Host)

Jeff Nixon graduated from the University of Richmond where he holds the career record for 23 interceptions. A three-time All-America selection , Jeff was inducted into the University of Richmond Hall of Fame in 1989.

Jeff was a fourth round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills in 1979. He led the team with six interceptions his rookie season and in 1980 Jeff intercepted three passes against the Miami Dolphins to help the Bills win and end the longest head-to-head team losing streak in NFL history.

Jeff retired in 1985 and is now living in Buffalo, New York. He is married to recording artist Joyce Wilson-Nixon and together they have 5 children; Charles, Damien, Libran, Jena and Jeff.

Jeff has been working on NFL retired player issues and moderates the blog “NFL Retired Players United”. He also currently hosts the Jeff Nixon Sports Report on VoiceAmerica Internet Talk Radio. His show can be heard every Monday at 5 PM EDT.

Jeff will be a columnist for Buffalo Sports Daily and we’re proud to also broadcast his informative and entertaining weekly radio show.

CHRIS ROY (Staff Writer)

Chris has been in sports journalism for the last five years. Prior to that, he spent his days as a collection agent, both in the field and behind a desk, but he decided it was time to find a new and exciting challenge.

Chris began writing for MVN, an online magazine, covering sports from a fans perspective. After building the respect of his peers, he began covering the Portland Pirates, Portland Sea Dogs, auto racing and high school sports for several news organizations including Biddeford’s Journal Tribune and York County Coast Star.

Realizing there was a need for better hockey coverage in the State of Maine, Chris along with Nathan Fournier began Maine Hockey Journal in 2008, providing hockey coverage from around the state. Chris attended Southern Maine Community College earning a degree Liberal Arts with a concentration in Behavioral Health Sciences.

Chris will be covering the Sabres-affilated Portland Pirates for Buffalo Sports Daily and will be profiling numerous Sabres prospects.

TESS TICKLE (BSD Cooking Blogger)

A native New Yorker living in Staten Island, Tess is better known as “the Unemployed Chef.” After getting laid off on October 31st, 2008 (Happy Halloween!) from a printing company which made her want to put a bullet inside her head daily (company shall remain nameless), she revelled in the idea of getting paid to do nothing.

But she doesn’t really do nothing. She cooks. Constantly. She spends her morning hours scouring food sites, tearing recipes out of magazines, making shopping lists, and preparing dinner. And she enjoys it.
While she admittedly knows little about Buffalo sports, Tess will provide our readers with delicious recipes for all the big games, with a steady side of dry humor. You can read her blog at The Unemployed Chef.
