Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula truly is a Penn State guy. That especially holds true this evening following a series of published reports on Nittany Lions head football coach Bill O’Brien.
O’Brien has been heavily rumored in recent days to be considering leaving Penn State after just one season for a head coaching opportunity in the NFL. But O’Brien spoke to Pennlive.com late Thursday evening and said despite talking to NFL teams, he’s remaining at Penn State for 2013.
Pegula, a huge Penn State donor, personally made sure O’Brien’s salary took a bump up. The Sporting News reports Pegula “donated” a $1.3 million gift to O’Brien, which spikes his 2013 salary to $3.6 million.
Pegula, who went to Penn State and made most of his fortune in Pennsylvania, donated a mind blowing $88 million to the Penn State hockey program in 2010.
Now maybe he’ll donate a few million to help the Buffalo Bills cause with Chip Kelly.
