So what happened to the philosophy "build from within"? That was the excuse for losing key players in the past! You have a player in drew stafford who they won't give up on eventhough he is a bum, but instead you waive a 23 year old rookie who put up 26pts on the 3rd and fourth line. You knew what you were getting when you traded for a under sized forward. I would rather have someone who plays game in and game out than a player who is much more interested in rock band 3!

You must be right about credibility, Mr. Philagape, because silly me didn't realize those '98 & '99 runs resulted from Hasek stealing all of those playoff games. You must have seen something that myself and the rest of the world missed.

First lets remember that Larry Quinn was here one time before and ran that team almost into extintion. Dracy has to deal with managament and what he can spend but he has really never been what you would call a salesman to the management about getting a true blue chipper in here. Scouting for the Sabres is a complete and utter joke as they hire a couple local and they watch videotape instead of actually going to games, saves money that way. Lastly you have a coach who wa nts mirror images og himself as players. Lindy could make Ovi and Crosby into 20 goal a year players.

The Sabres are not going anywhere until ownership truly wants to win the cup. Start with L.Q., then Darcy and a few of our scouts, get rid of them, then you might see a team that represents the mettle of this community. Upper managment is too wedded to their current players, paying them ridiculous money for their production. The current team make up reflects the personality of the G.M.. Laid back and walk softly. No grit, passion our game intelligence in my opinion. Look no further than Tim Connoly or Derek Roy, especially in the playoffs.

First of all, there are few things we should care about less than how many points a team earns or where it finishes in the regular season. Means absolutely nothing. When they won the Presidents Trophy a few years back, I said they should use it as lamp.
The only thing worth caring about is the Stanley Cup, and the only measure of success is how close a team gets to it in the playoffs. Nothing else matters. So yeah, I think Caps fans do have a little less to complain about.
Second, the late 90s teams were defined by one person: Hasek. Regier inherited that team, so to say his management style "produced" that run is a joke. Get real. All credibility shot down right there.
It cannot be disputed that the current team, which has missed two playoff years followed by an early exit (and before that the premature dismantling of the only praiseworthy team this FO has ever produced) is WAY more indicative of this FO's policies than any other team they've had. This is what they've gotten us.
