After just one season in the NBA, Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Jonny Flynn has already become the subject of trade rumors.
IndyStar.com Indiana Pacers beat writer Mike Wells twittered Monday afternoon that the Pacers offered the 10th pick in the upcoming NBA draft to Minnesota for Flynn, and the T-Wolves said no thanks.
Flynn, the former Niagara Falls high school superstar and Syracuse University standout, recently wrapped up a NBA rookie season that saw him average 13.5 points and 4.4 assists per game. He was the sixth overall pick by Minnesota in the 2009 draft.
The Timberwolves went just 15-67 last year, the second-worst record in the league after New Jersey. They own the fourth pick in the draft and are expected to take fellow Syracuse star Wesley Johnson.
They also own the 16th and 23rd overall picks in the draft. Apparently, they don’t think moving Flynn is worth the 10th. That could change however, if the team is able to lure Ricky Rubio over from Spain. Rubio, the fifth overall pick last year, would probably force general manager David Kahn’s hand to trade one of his two star point guards.
Stay tuned.
