While Terrell Owens garners the headlines, another former Buffalo Bills free agent veteran is still hoping to find a job. Ryan Denney, who had been with the Bills since 2002 before being told prior to free agency the team wouldn’t be bringing him back, is still unemployed a week into July and his future in the league is coming into doubt.
Emails and a phone call to contact Denney’s representation at LMM Sports Management have went unreturned. The agency, which also represents high profile clients such as Jordan Gross, Vernon Davis, Laurence Maroney and Rhonde Barber, have represented Denney since he entered the league.
Sources we’ve spoke to tell us that Denney has spoken with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers since free agency started but has yet to receive a contract offer.
Denney, 33, is originally a second round draft choice of the Bills in 2002. During his career, spent almost exclusively as a reserve defensive end, he’s racked 23.5 sacks and six forced fumbles to go with 298 tackles.
He had 27 tackles and two sacks with the team last year.
In no way is Denney considered a line anchor and apparently no team seems him a viable starter, but it’s at least mildly perplexing he hasn’t found a job in a backup role. At 6-foot-7 and 264 pounds he can disrupt a pass rush and in certain schemes he’s capable of playing some defensive tackle.
Offensive lineman Seth McKinney, guard Kendall Simmons and linebacker Josh Stamer along with Owens are the other former Bills free agents who are still unsigned.

Kelsay should also be out of the league with Denney. They may be both really nice guys, but they are both: small, slow and unproductive DE’s……Here’s hoping “Whitless” joins Denney on as being out of the league before the season starts!
