University at Buffalo 157-pound wrestler Andrew Stella has lived through what some would say has been a “unique” career. Competing in the sport of wrestling his entire life, the fifth-year health and human services major is looking for a perfect ending to a deserving career.
Growing up in a competitive family in nearby Tonawanda, New York, Stella wrestled in New York’s Section VI and was victorious at the sectional tournament all four years. When asked who his biggest athletic influence was Stella immediately responded with his father, a well-respected Section VI wrestling referee for 20 years. Since he was about four or five years old, Stella competed under the close instruction of his father. With each win, his love for the sport grew larger.
