As we continue to wait for news to break regarding the Buffalo Bills’ search for a new head coach, we thought it’d be prudent to break away from the repetitive coverage and start talking about the shell of a football team that’s on the verge of getting re-molded.
One of the key sticking points that’s often bandied about when talking about top coaching candidates’ unwillingness to come to Buffalo is their overall lack of talent. This is a valid concern, even if it’s hyperbolized in Buffalo to an extent. Let’s face it – Seattle isn’t exactly brimming with untapped potential, either. With the dramatically sudden firing of Dick Jauron yesterday and Derek Fine going to the I.R. this morning dominating the headlines, a very under the radar move was also made, a manuever that could be very telling about Demetrius Bell.
Bell injured his knee Sunday at Tennessee and the extent of the injury hasn’t been revealed (expect an update this afternoon). Jauron did say Monday in what turned out to be his final presser that he “wasn’t optimistic” about Bell’s injury.
This morning the Bills signed interior linemen Christian Gaddis to the practice squad (his third stint there) and released C.J. Hawthorne.

Mike Mayock is one of the more respected football analysts on television. The NFL Network draft guru is especially credible among fans in Buffalo.
Many will recall in 2006 as the Bills prepared for the draft, Mayock was the only draft “expert” to accurately project Donte Whitner going to the team with the eighth overall pick. Most had Whitner going towards the end of the first round and in hindsight, the majority of Bills fans currently wish Mayock would’ve been wrong.
