Buffalo State honored 84 student-athletes at its 14th Annual Scholar-Athlete Academic Luncheon to recognize student-athletes that have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher for at least three semesters at the college today in the Hall of Fame Lobby in the Sports Arena.
Following opening remarks by Athletics Director Jerry Boyes, President Aaron Podolefsky addressed the audience. The 84 student-athletes honored represented 44-percent of the total number of student-athletes eligible for the recognition, having been at Buffalo State for at least three semesters. Among the honorees were 25 that have maintained a 3.50 GPA or higher.
Nick Weigand (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Kathryn Boughton (Lancaster/Lancaster) were also recognized as the top graduating male and female scholar-athletes respectively. Weigand is a member of the men’s swimming team, completing his degree in social studies education with a 3.78 GPA. Boughton is a member of the women’s soccer program, graduating with a degree in applied mathematics with a perfect 4.00 GPA.
