Tipoff for NCAA Tournament in Buffalo today

Posted on March 19, 2010 by BSD Staff Reports

For the fourth time, the NCAA men’s basketball March Madness has come to Buffalo.  Six games featuring eight teams are in display at the HSBC Arena today and Sunday and when it’s over Buffalo will have sent two teams on to the “Sweet Sixteen”.

Four teams each from the West and East brackets will take the floor, featuring Big East powers Syracuse and West Virginia.

Of course with its close proximity to Buffalo, Syracuse will probably have the most fans at the arena.  Syracuse is heavily favored against 16th seeded Vermont but the Orange will be hurt by the loss of big man Arize Onuaku.

The day’s closest game could be between an incredibly gifted Florida State squad going up against the tournament battle tested Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Friday’s schedule:

Eastern Bracket

West Virginia (27-6) vs. Morgan State (27-9), 12:15

Clemson (21-10) vs. Missouri (22-10)*

Western Bracket

Gonzaga (26-6) vs. Florida State (22-9), 7:10

Syracuse (28-4) vs. Vermont (25-9)*

(* – 30 minutes after previous game ends)

Check back all day for instant game updates on what’s sure to be an exciting day for Buffalo hoop fans.
