Posted on February 10, 2012 by University at Buffalo Press Release

Ohio StateThe University at Buffalo will make another visit to a historic stadium when it travels to Ohio State to take on the Buckeyes on Sept. 21, 2013.

The Bulls and Buckeyes have never met and UB’s game in Ohio Stadium – the famed “Horseshoe” – will mark the third stadium in an eight-year period (2007-13) that Buffalo will compete in with more than 100,000 seats. The current capacity for Ohio Stadium is 102,329 after previous trips to Penn State in 2007 (Beaver Stadium, 106,572) and Tennessee last year (Neyland Stadium, 102,455).

The clash with Ohio State is a one-time meeting with Buffalo receiving a guarantee of one million dollars. The meeting with the Buckeyes will be Buffalo’s sixth against current Big Ten members. The Bulls have previously played against Michigan (1901), Iowa (2003), Minnesota (2002), Penn State (1900, 2007) and Wisconsin (2006).

The game against Ohio State also wraps up Buffalo’s non-conference slate for that season. Buffalo will also travel to Baylor on Sept. 7, 2013 and will host Stony Brook (9/14) and Connecticut (9/28) in 2013.

“We are always excited to have an opportunity to play against some of the most tradition-laden and historically outstanding college football programs in the country like Ohio State,” said Warde Manuel, Vice President and Director of Athletics at UB. “Ohio Stadium will provide a tremendous venue for our players, alumni, students and fans to see our team compete against the Buckeyes.”

The Bulls will open the 2012 campaign in another historic venue, Sanford Stadium, on the campus of the University of Georgia when the Bulls take on the Bulldogs on Sept. 1.
